Menopause symptom diary: 30 seconds a day, ready for your OB

Editorially reviewed on October 29, 2026Medical review: pending

Quick answer

The symptom diary is a quick daily log of how you feel: 16 common menopause symptoms rated 0 to 3, your period or spotting, hours slept, night wakings, mood and anything you took. After a few weeks it shows your worst symptoms and patterns, and it can make a one-page Health Report to bring to your doctor. Everything stays on your device.

Health Report for your doctor

Your data (stored only on this device)

Nothing you enter is sent to us or anyone. It lives in this browser. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so export a copy if you want to keep it or move phones. Privacy by design.

Educational only. Not a diagnosis or prescription.

Why a diary beats "basta, pagod lang ako"

In a 10-minute consult, "I feel off" is hard for a doctor to act on. "I woke up drenched 19 nights out of 28, and my period came at 21 and then 47 days" is not. A diary turns a blur of bad days into a pattern your OB can see.

It also helps you. Many Filipinas were raised to be matiisin and to downplay symptoms. Seeing the numbers on paper makes it easier to say, out loud, that this is affecting your life. Filipinas on Reddit report that keeping a journal of symptoms helped them get a real conversation about treatment (r/AskPinay). That is a personal story, not evidence, but it matches what doctors tell us: specifics help.

What you log each day

  • 16 symptoms, 0 to 3: the same symptoms as our Symptom Wheel, from hot flashes and night sweats to brain fog, joint pain, itchy skin, dryness and bladder changes. 0 is none, 3 is a lot.
  • Period: none, spotting, light, normal, heavy or flooding.
  • Sleep: hours slept and how many times you woke.
  • Mood: one tap.
  • Medicines and supplements: what you took, so you and your doctor can see what changed when.

It takes about 30 seconds. Skip a day and nothing breaks.

What the results show

After a week you get a heatmap of your symptoms by day. After a month you see your worst three symptoms this month, your night wakings per week and your cycle lengths. These are your own ratings added up, not a diagnosis or a severity score. A symptom that sits at 3 most days is worth raising, whatever the cause turns out to be.

The Health Report gathers one to three months of entries into a single page: top symptoms, trends, cycle changes, what you are taking and a few questions to ask. You can edit the questions before you print. See the printable Health Report for the layout.

If you log bleeding after 12 months with no period, or very heavy bleeding, the diary shows a "See a doctor soon" note and links to bleeding after menopause.

Private by design

Your diary is saved in your browser's local storage on this device only. It is not sent to us, not backed up to a server and not used in analytics. That also means if you clear your browser data or change phones, it is gone unless you export it first. Use the export button to save a file and import it on a new phone, and the delete button to wipe everything. Details on our privacy by design page.

Limits to keep in mind

  • The diary records what you tell it. It does not know if a symptom comes from menopause, thyroid, anaemia or something else.
  • It does not suggest medicines or doses. Your doctor decides treatment.
  • Paper works too. If you prefer pen and paper, print the 4-week symptom diary.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I keep the diary before seeing my OB?

Two to four weeks gives a useful picture. If your periods are irregular, two or three months shows the cycle pattern better. Do not wait if a symptom is severe.

Can I use the diary with the hot flash counter?

Yes. Flashes you log with the hot flash counter feed into the diary and the Health Report.

What if I switch phones?

Export your data as a file first, then import it on the new phone. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.

Is there a Taglish version?

Yes. Use the language toggle on the tool. The Health Report prints in either language.

Hindi makatulog, gising ng 3 am. Should I log that?

Yes. Log hours slept and the number of wakings. Sleep problems are one of the most common reasons women end up seeing a doctor in perimenopause.
